Pelosi Unveiling Health Bill With Gov’t Option
WASHINGTON — After months of contentious negotiating,
in secret, behind closed doors, with lobbyists for all sorts of special interests,
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi prepared to unveil a retooled health care overhaul plan
but not Obama’s “my healthcare plan” – the imaginary one he keeps telling us about,
intended to bridge differences among Democrats and open a history-making floor debate on extending health insurance to nearly all Americans.
But not all Americans? I thought that was the whole point.
The bill would require nearly everyone by 2013 to sign up through their employer, a government program or a new kind of purchasing pool called an exchange.
Did she re-brand “public option” and call it “happy puppies and duckies?” A spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down…
Democratic leaders in the House still face disputes over prohibiting taxpayer money for abortions and health care for illegal immigrants, issues they hoped to resolve after the bill’s unveiling.
Still? Obama’s plan (he didn’t submit one) doesn’t cover illegal immigrants (remember Joe WIlson’s remark “you lie”). Obama’s plan (he didn’t submit one) doesn’t pay for abortions.
