Pelosicare Part Deux

October 30, 2009

Pelosicare!  HERE IT IS all 1990 pages of it.

1990 pages of Pelosicare. How to spend $2.24 million per word

It’s just a “concept” so it’s not in legal language, is it?

How long is it going to take you to read 1990 pages of (Here are a few lines at random, pg 87):

(2)     REVISION IN PROCESSING PAYMENT TRANS
2        ACTIONS BY FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS.—
3        (A) IN GENERAL.—Section 1179 of the So
4       cial Security Act (42 U.S.C. 1320d–8) is
5       amended, in the matter before paragraph (1)—
6       (i) by striking ‘‘or is engaged’’ and in
7       serting ‘‘and is engaged’’; and
8       (ii) by inserting ‘‘(other than as a
9       business associate for a covered entity)’’
10    after ‘‘for a financial institution’’.

A can’t-put-it-down riveting tome, isn’t it? Exactly what sort of mischief would that little change in the law cause? What is hidden in those 1990 pages?

OK. Here are some headlines:

House health bill clocks in at 1,990 pages

It runs more pages than War and Peace, has nearly five times as many words as the Torah, and its tables of contents alone run far longer than this story.

The House health care bill unveiled Thursday clocks in at 1,990 pages and about 400,000 words. With an estimated 10-year cost of $894 billion, that comes out to about $2.24 million per word.

That’s expensive.

1990 pages that no one has read. They have yet to add amendments. They have yet to “reconcile” it with Harrycare (the Senate version). They want to pass it before anyone has a chance to find out what’s in it. What a  travesty, it would be a joke if it weren’t so dangerous.

Unbelieveable.

Ya read stuff. On the internet. It sounds outrageous. You don’t know if you should believe it.

Republican Rep. Joe Barton, who is Texan, said the bill is “about four reams of paper” that add up to the American public “getting reamed.”

He’s got that right.
