Obama’s Health Care Summit
February 10, 2010
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s senior health care advisor has told Congress Daily that congressional Democratic leaders have settled on a strategy they believe will allow them to make changes in both Senate and House Obamacare bills, then send a single, revised version to President Obama for signature.
Perhaps the Dems think this will make themselves look good?
The most logical answer would seem to be that the summit is part and parcel of a White House/congressional Democratic strategy to distract attention from what is about to happen on the Hill. It’s the classic magician’s trick of distracting you with the left hand while the right hand does the “trick.”
Pelosi Aide: Health Care Summit a Trick, Strategy on Pro-Abortion Bill Decided
President Barack Obama has proposed a bipartisan health care summit for later this month that Republican detractors bill as a publicity stunt designed to generate more support for the flailing pro-abortion health care bill. Now, an aide to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi essentially admitted that’s the case.
In comments reported by Congress Daily, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s top health care aide Wendell Primus admitted top Democrats have already decided on the strategy to pass the Senate’s pro-abortion, government-run health care bill.
I have heard reports of ACORN and SEIU having email and letters writing campaigns urging these republicans to “cooperate”, “reach across the aisle”, and they are posing as constituents.
Obama’s Health Care Sham Summit: Does It Really Matter?
Barack Obama has invited Republicans to have a face-to-face about the health care bill on camera. We’re talking about a bill crafted from start to finish by Democrats, while Republicans were locked out of the process. The GOP has made it absolutely clear that the bill won’t garner a single Republican vote unless the Dems start over, no matter what’s said at this summit.
With that in mind, you have to ask: what’s the point?
In Obama’s case, the Democrats believe he came off well during the Q&A session with Republicans at their retreat so, they’d like another round. Moreover, after the Obama administration broke its transparency pledges, lied about putting the process on C-SPAN, and refused to give the GOP any real input into designing the bill, this is a great PR stunt for them. See? It’s on TV. They’re being transparent. They’re working with Republicans. Now, what are these unreasonable Republicans complaining about?
On the Republican side, this is supposed to be a lose/lose proposition. If they don’t show up at the sham summit, they’re not being bipartisan. If they do show up, Obama sets the rules and he can stand at the podium and lecture them like children while they sit in the audience, afraid to point out that he’s lying on issue after issue lest the be accused of being rude.
Afraid of being accused of being rude? RUDE? Our freedom and fortunes are at stake, don’t worry about being accused of being rude.
Do your homework, GOP, have both Dem bills at your fingertips and when talking about healthcare legislation, be very, very, very specific. Make ‘em squirm.
Now would be a very good time to take the President up on his offer to go over the healthcare bills – all 3500 pages and referenced documents – “line by line.”
Get the president to explain where he and Congress get the power to overthrow healthcare. Be polite.
Let me be clear, make no mistake. Change isn’t easy. It won’t happen overnight. There will be setbacks and false starts. You can do it without being rude.
Either that, or get the Dems to push the reset button and start with a blank piece of paper.
When you are done, you can say “I do not view it as a recognition of my own accomplishments, but rather as an affirmation of American leadership on behalf of aspirations held by people in all nations.” You won’t have to read it from a teleprompter, either.
GOP, be proud to be “The Party of Know.”
Get to work, force the Dems to push the reset button and KILLTHEBILL.
